A T-shirt as an object

By Christopher Mitchell

03.05.2018 / COLLABORATION

We’ve recently developed a new photo collaboration with British photographer Christopher Mitchell.

About a year ago, a workmate told us about Chris’ work and we discovered his distinctive and personal shoots. He always finds the “wow” factor about the objects he photographs, and that was what motivated us to collaborate with him. We thought that he might do the same with the garments from our last collection “Legendary surfers”, so we sent to him a selection of pieces to experiment with.

We like that Christopher Mitchell gives objects their five minutes of fame, so to speak.
Through seeing an object, Christopher instinctively sparks with many ideas about a shoot, bringing a completely new way of viewing it and highlighting something that most of the people often overlook about it.

In the photographs Christopher Mitchell produced alongside Firmamento, he tried to have a strong connection to where he imagined the clothes being worn. One T-shirt draped over a bodyboard, for example, has a literal connection with the roots of Firmamento.
